Airport Cigar Smoking! Yes!

the real thing!

In a recent trip coming back from Texas, our flight was cancelled.

No Problem.

We were then booked on a flight with 2 Layovers.

Problem??

Turned out to be the best trip ever for cigar smokers like us!

Our second layover was Memphis, Tn! What a surprise to find that we did NOT have to go through security to get our cigar smoking fix! Yes, we got to smoke INSIDE THE SECURE AREA! WHERE?

The Blue Note Cafe! Wonderful, and were they ever busy! Cigarette smokers and cigar smokers alike were enjoying their “right to smoke”!

carolbluenotecafeWe will be planning most of our flights with layovers in Memphis now. Thumbs up for the Blue Note Cafe.

(As you can see, I am really enjoying having a relaxing smoke!)

Irish Hops – Wonderful!

My Opinion, My favorite cigars!

Last night I smoked one of Drew Estate Natural Cigar – an Irish Hops!

Oohh…this is one “long lasting” nice cigar!

Irish Hops, (known as ’the Hopper), is a complex, medium-bodied cigar that’s rich, silky-smooth, creamy, sweet, and booming with bold flavors. Wonderful!!!

This toro size, measuring 6″ x 52, combines an exotic mixture of unique tobaccos with Brazilian and Nicaraguan long-fillers. Patiently aged and masterfully blended, these leaves are then coated by a dark and oily San Andres Negra wrapper from Mexico.

The result:  complex from the first puff and enjoyable to the nub.

Try one soon! Your will be hooked!

Pimp Stick & Irish Hops – what do they have in common?

My Opinion

They are Natural!

As in Natural Cigars by Drew Estate!

Recently Cigar International had a wonderful sale on Drew Estate Natural Cigars.

Of course, I could not resist.  Not only did I buy the “Bargain of the Week”, I picked up a box of Dirts, which came with a free sample of 8 cigars:

2 – Ltd. Irish Hops: dark, rich, creamy, with a sweet finish; complex and medium in body. MY FAVORITE

2 – Ltd. Pimp Stick:  Cameroon wrapper; medium-bodied, major flavor; exotic blend; rich, smooth, subtle

2 – Extremely Limited Edition Acid 5:  Aged 5 yrs.   Made of broad leaf Maduro wrapper over a lush blend   of select black tobacco.  MY SECOND FAVORITE

2 – Another Acid, but not sure what it is – YET, but will be researching the websites

The Iris Hops one was wonderful!  As is the Acid 5.

The Pimp Stick just didn’t have the flavor, too bland for my taste,

and the other Acid (still remains nameless) was horrible.   I lit up, handed it to my husband, who immediately pitched it after one puff.

Maybe it’s a good thing I don’t know the name!!!!

All these cigars at listed between $8-10.    And as you see, price doesn’t effect whether they are good or bad tasting.   At least that’s my opinion.

Isla del Sol by Drew Estate

My favorite cigars!

I have found another gem from Drew Estate’s creative genius! Isla del Sol

This cigar combines a deliciously infused Nicaraguan premium with an everyday price that can’t be beat! These cigars comes loaded with a rich blend of aged Nicaraguan tobaccos inside a beautiful, chocolate-brown, ’Sun-Blessed’ Sumatra wrapper.

Each of the filler leaves has been carefully infused with the enticing nuances of premium, Sumatran Mandheling Bean Coffee. The wrapper is finished with a delightfully sweetened cap.

Expect a rich, creamy core with ample notes of mocha and coffee, complemented by a luxurious aroma.

The Best is the price! It will be easy to enjoy the scrumptious flavors of Isla del Sol on a daily basis!

Backup cigar – Acid Atom Maduro

My favorite cigars!

Acid Atom Maduro are great too!

Like all the ACID cigars, this is, ahem, different.

ACID cigars have always created excitement. Whether it’s your cup of tea or not, you gotta hand it to Drew Estate – these cigars are in constant demand. No one can come close to the one-of-a-kind blends, aromas and shapes they’ve created. The tobaccos are cured in areas called cuarto aromaticos (aroma rooms) for months prior to rolling – these rooms are lined with over 150 different essential herbs, oils and botanicals imbued into the cigars over time. Handmade in Nicaragua with all natural ingredients, each ACID size offers a distinct flavor and aroma.

ACID by Drew Estate:
1: non-aromatic; Cameroon wrapper; torpedo
1400cc: robusto in glass tubes; very strong
Atom: maduro; medium-full bodied, rich – my favorite!
Blondie: small powerhouse cigar; slightly sweet
c-notes: small cigarillos; medium-bodied and rich
Cold Infusion Tea: lighter, refreshing taste
Deep Dish: rich, velvety smoke with toasty sweetness
Earthiness: very full-bodied corona
Extra Ordinary Larry: huge size; sweet spice flavors
KMV: medium-bodied toro; smokey & rich
Kong: cone shaped!; great draw; red wines
Kuba Deluxe Tubo: toro-sized Kuba Kuba; smooth and mellow
Kuba Kuba: fat robusto; medium-bodied
Liquid: robusto; fuller, rich taste
Ltd. Def Sea: ultra smooth double torpedo; best seller
Nasty: short pyramid shaped maduro; chocolatey
Nefasto: huge version of the Nasty
Roam: creamy taste with a light floral aroma
Wafe: a super-thin, box-pressed smoke that’s big on flavor

Give these a try!

Bill and Cusano Corojo '97

My favorite cigars!

A dear friend of ours, Bill Hibbler, gave me a wonderful cigar while we were in Austin, Texas recently!

It was a Cusano Corojo ’97!

The Corojo ’97 is a 24oz sirloin-sized smoke just waiting to take your palate for a flavorful ride.

The Corojo leaf is probably the #1 contributor to the legend of Cuban Cigars.

The flavors derived from a true Corojo leaf are unrivaled by any other leaf on earth, or the universe for that matter. The strength has yet to meet its match. The rich, deep flavors combined with a potent strength makes this cigar on to go out of your way for!

In 2004, Mike Cusano of Cusano Cigars released the spectacular new blend that redefines this rare wrapper leaf. By using a vintage Ecuadorian-grown Cuban Corojo leaf that’s been aging since 1997, the new Cusano Corojo ’97 is a powerhouse blend that’s bursting with complex flavors. Using some of the strongest Dominican filler-leaves and binders attainable, it has an incredibly smooth bouquet of earthy notes complementing a healthy portion of toasted spice, all while being backed by intoxicating strength!

Be warned Enthusiasts! This is not a rookie cigar.

Hope you like this cigar as much as I do!!!

What a flavor! What a Great taste!

Thank you Bill!

Backup cigar – Ashton VSG Tres Mystique!

My favorite cigars!

My favorite “unflavored” cigar is still the Ashton VSG Tres Mystique.

For a powerful and intoxicating flavor with a complex rich finish, look no further than the Ashton VSG!

The VSG is blended exclusively for Ashton by Carlos Fuente Jr. using 4 to 5 year old aged Dominican tobacco taken from the finest and most fertile plants!

The distinct flavor of VSG comes from its wrapper grown on a private estate in Ecuador owned by the Oliva family where this proprietary wrapper leaf is grown for the Fuente Family exclusively for Ashton VSG.  The leaf is taken from the higher primings and matures slowly by sunlight filtered through the region’s natural cloud covering.

The result is the rich intoxicating wrapper which has made the Ashton VSG the most in demand cigar on the market today.

Try the Tres Mystique today!

Backup cigar – oh, what choices!

the real thing!

Saturday I took my reluctant husband and headed to the nearby cigar store, Tobacco Village, in Westmoreland Mall, Greensburg, PA.

I needed to find a “backup” in event I ran out of my “regulars” (JAVA & JAVA LATTE).

Told Jim I like the flavored cigars, BUT NOT THE “WOOSIE” little ones. Give me MEAT!

So Jim hooks me up. I have 4 “test” cases. A Diamond Crown Maxima (haven’t smoked yet), an Ashton VSG(wow, are they good!), an Acid Atom Maduro (yummy), and a CAO – thumbs down on this one.

While there he mentions his “cigar of the month” plan. Hey, why not?!? Signed up, and found that I was the first FEMALE to join!

Kool!!!

check out his site Tobacco Village, and send me cigars. I’ll test and get the results out as soon as I get them smoked!
